LICENSED AVON BEAUTY CENTER

By: DIXIE REYNOLDS

OXFORD, ALABAMA

I can do everything through him who gives me strength.  Philippians 4:13

"I owe my business to God.  When my husband became dissabled we were terrified.  I worked at this LABC already but without his salary what were we going to do?  We prayed at home,  at Church,  in the car and believed God would give us strength.  Anyway, the owner here got transfered and over the months we worked out a deal for me to buy it.  All I can say is that it was God's work.  I'm sooo Blessed...Avon Rocks"

Hi Candy, I don't know much about Face book either as I am new to it also. But as I was telling you.  About 3 years ago we knew my Husband, Paul was not going to be able to work much longer.  All my life I had been a hair dresser but had to give that up because of my lungs (hair spray).  I had a friend who worked here.  We went to Church together and sang in a Gospel Trio.  Little did I know God was already laying the ground work.  My friend (Wanda) kept saying, "Why don't you come to the Avon store and work, it will be fun!" I did and I became the store Manager shortly after that.  Like I said, Paul and I prayed about what we would do after his short term disability ran out. During this time the store owner's husband got transferred to North Carolina so Donna offered to sell me the store.  I refused because I was afraid to put up that much money.  She ran it in the paper and Realtor books but had no luck. (Gods plan again) After a few months she offered it to me again but I was still afraid to take that chance.  I was still managing the store for her after she moved.  After a couple of months, she offered it to me again.  I had still been asking God to show me what to do so I made her a counter offer a lot less than she was asking and she accepted the offer.  Paul asked me if I thought we were doing the right thing.  My answer to him was, "I've prayed and prayed to God to show me the answer,  now the door is open and I feel like if I don't take it I will be slamming the door in his face."  So thats how I came to own the LABC.  I don't know what the economy is going to do but the store has kept all of our bills paid.  Paul should be getting his money started soon. It has been two years.  I still plan on keeping my store because I love it.  But when people ask me how I became an Avon Rep.  I tell them that I didn't make that decision, God put me here.  God is so awesome!  One more thing, I lost my beloved Mother the 1st day of November.  The holidays were hard but guess who is helping me through?  Yep, you guessed it...God!

I was a vendor for a Cheerleading Competition in Northern, KY. The event lasted about 6 hours. I wasn't the only vendor there. In total there was about 8 vendors. The other vendors were selling cheerleading apperal, handbags, picture frames and raffels. I was the only vendor there selling personal products. I had the perfect setup! I was right in front of the GYM doors. Everyone had to pass by my booth.

I did have someone else help me. She helped me setup and helped with customers. So, there was always someone at the booth. Everything that I sold was $10.00 and UNDER (except plush toys). The custumers loved the $1.00 baskets. The $1.00 baskets had the Holiday Hand Creams, Mini Mascara and Mini Lip Gloss. I did learn that next time I will bring more MARK items. Alot of the girls were buying products, when I thought it would be more of parents. I had a Lead Box setup for a Basket Giveaway. I got 52 Leads and 1 possible recruit.

I SOLD $214.00 in only 6 Hours!! What an event! I even sold to some women from the booth across from me. I had a good time doing this event. This is the first event that I did and I am planning on doing ALOT more.

*** TIP: for the lead box, I couldn't find one with out spending $15-$20 so, I went to staples and bought a 6x6x6 Shipping box for $1.95. Put wrapping paper around it and printed a sign (on cardstock) and taped it to the back. This will be my lead box for all events, I will just change the paper each time ***

I went to the Boyd County "Spotlight on the Family" earlier this month.  It was a festival for all the schools in this county.  Upon entering, I was given a brochure of the highlights for that evening.  The first thing that I saw when I opened the brochure, was a list of all the businesses that had donated items for door prizes.  I was thrilled when I saw Carolyn Menefee's name.   Immediately, I said "I know her!!!"  When I walked into the gym, I saw her name again (see photo below).  The school had made a poster to thank all the businesses for their donations.  I couldn't wait to follow-up with Carolyn to tell her that I saw her name advertised all over the school.  There were thousands of people at that event.  It was great!!!

Carolyn couldn't remember exactly what items she had donated.  She said she has worked with the schools for many years.  In fact, she was the first Avon Representative to hold an Avon fundraiser in our school system.  She even helped get the "Youth Service Center" started.  She has been a Representative for over 27 years.  It is such an honor to share her story with you.  She isn't in the Lollipop Unit, but she is someone from my District that I have the up-most respect for.  Carolyn said she really enjoys selling Avon.  However, she admits that she isn't doing very well, physically.  But that didn't stop her from having a $2000 fundraiser with the Jr. football league this year.  She told me she strictly uses the full brochure for fundraisers.  It has helped her achieve Honor Society.  I was so proud to share the same stage with her at the last Presidents Club Luncheon (see photo on left).  Thank you, Carolyn, for letting me share your story with my team!  Your such an inspiration!

Hey Candy,
It was great to see you at my Bingo! I have enclosed a quick list of helpful hints,I may know of a location interested in starting a bingo, but if you just look for a restaurant that has a senior hours I would ask, it can only bring in more customers for them. I hope you find it as rewarding as I have. It feels as if we are one big family. Everyone was worried when Bob missed a day to go to the dentist, Roberta is always yelling at her friend Alberta for missing numbers. Deloris & Jack just got married on 9/14 (my anniversary too, go figure!) And I just LOVE watching Molly as she nears a bingo, two away the bounce starts, one away and her checks get a cupie doll blush, if I just call the letter she needs she holds her breath!  I would keep running this Bingo even if I wasn't making $150 to $200 in sales each campaign!

  1. Have Help - I can run bingo by myself but, I miss sales and it just doesn't flow right.

  2. Have a Board – Big enough for all to see the numbers called. (see example below) If possible have a second board with all bingo info( rules, games, prizes, and times=see photo below) Less questions about bingo= more time for Avon!!

  3. Have Rules -Such as no children or cell phones, this will prevent issues later.

  4. Have a Game Plan – There are many different kinds of Bingo, know and let your players know what you will be playing.

  5. Have a Prize Plan – First make sure you can support it for the first 60 days. This will let you grow player loyalty. I have two prize baskets one for standard games (PINK for lip balms, nail files & mini's ) and one for specialty games (BLUE for shampoo, full size lotions & shower gels). Along with a pick from a basket the winner receives a ticket for their choice of monthly prize bundle, I offer three his/hers/seasonal worth $25 - $50 book price.

  6. Have a Schedule of Play – When you will play specialty games and take breaks.

  7. Have a Head Start !! - Someone ALWAYS shows up early, if possible be ready to play one hour early! Then take 15 minutes for yourself, ready & relaxed, Now you have 45 minutes to sell before Bingo.

  8. Have Confidence – Do not be afraid to stand-up and call bingo, the first time your down to just a few numbers and it's so quite you can hear a pin drop, you'll love it! And don't be afraid to talk about current events or local happenings (i.e. Gas prices) you may have to fill time so be ready.

  9. Have Faith – When I first started Bingo there were only 3 players now I have between 15-25 players. Be prepared not to make a lot of money at first, Like gardens and friendships the best things take time to grow!!!

How To Make Honor Society The Easy Way

By: Suzie Fields

Flatwoods, KY

Want to know how to make Honor Society the easy way? Have others do it for you! About a year ago, I was contacted by a lady (Carol) who lives in my town about doing a fundraiser. She had gotten my name and phone number from my website. (I had griped about paying the $7.50 per campaign for that website – but boy am I glad now that I'm an e-rep.) Anyway, Carol has children that are in the Russell Orchestra. The parents of the Orchestra members were heavily involved in fundraising, trying to make enough money to send their children to London, England where they had been invited to play. Since Russell is my alma mater and I was in the band (and always trying to raise money for something!) I wanted to help out in any way possible. I made arrangements with Carol for an ongoing fundraiser out of the regular brochures. I agreed to give them 40% on everything they sold (20% on the * marked items). They pay for their own brochures and bags. I had no idea that this would turn out to be such a boost to my sales! Their sales amount to anywhere between $200 - $1,000 each brochure! And this has been every campaign since August of 2007! I've set up each parent as a customer and they take up orders from their friends, e-mail me their combined order each campaign and send the money they collect to Carol. When I receive the shipment, I sort it out, give Carol a call with the total of all orders combined (with discount), and she writes me one check and picks up the orders. She takes care of distributing the money made to each parent. Very simple! My sales quickly went to Honor Society level. I enjoy working with Carol and the other parents and have the good feeling of helping (in a small way) them realize their dreams.

 KRIS KOUNS

1957-2008

This wonderful woman was once be my biggest recruiting competition.  She was not in the Lollipop Unit, but I was privileged to know her and work around her for almost 3 years.  She was our former District Manager's Assistant, a member of Heather Hiscock's downline, Presidents Club & She had the highest number of recruits in the whole state of Kentucky!  Kris and I shared many laughs, success stories and yes, even bitter cat fights.  Fortunately, Kris and I were big enough to settle our differences and make-up with each other.  All that I can say is that I was guilty of complete jealousy and I'm glad that Kris had a forgiving heart.  I praise God for getting the opportunity to know her and speak to her before she passed away.  She touched my heart and I will truly miss her.
